| The war between Israel and Hezbollah is a reactionary
war. Kidnapping of the two Israeli soldiers gave an excuse to the
Israeli government to launch yet another premeditated assault. Israeli
government and Hezbollah claim that they are in war. However civilians
are the targets of both terrorist forces. The victims of this reactionary
war are the innocent people of Lebanon, Palestine and Israel. So far
more than 700 people in Lebanon and 50 in Israel have been killed.
More than 800 thousand people of Lebanon, equivalent to one fifth
of the population of the country have become homeless and refugees.
One third of the people killed as a result of Israeli attacks have
been children. Extensive areas of southern Lebanon and Beirut have
completely been ruined. Bombardment of residential areas is an anti
humane policy carried out by both sides of the war.
The extend of the destruction created by Israel is unprecedented.
Using chemical bombs containing white Phosphor is yet another criminal
act of the Israeli government against the Lebanese people. The Israeli
government on the 18th day of its attack on Lebanon using air strikes,
murdered more than 60 people of the village of Qana in one day.
Half of the people murdered by Israel are children. This is a huge
human tragedy. It is a scar on the civilized humanity. The murderers
must be tried for war crimes against people. The governments supporting
this war, either directly or by providing materials and military
equipment and artillery (US government and Islamic Republic of Iran)
must also be tried for participating in mass murder of people.
Organization for Women’s Liberation, while sympathizing with the
people of Lebanon and sharing their grief, declares that both poles
of terrorism and mass murder in this war must be tried for criminal
acts. The civilized humanity must rid itself of militarism and Islamic
terrorism. This war must stop unconditionally. The forces behind
the crimes against the people of Palestine, Lebanon and Israel must
be tried at international courts of justice. The governments that
provide the material for this murders are also part of this crime.
We must rid ourselves and our lives of these forces. To achieve
this we can only rely on the protest of the civilized humanity.
